Types species: Holopeplus cubensis Arrow , monotypic, junior synonym of Holopeplus gundlachi (Grouvelle, 1878) as per Scott (1933).

Derivation of generic name: The name Holopeplus is a derivation of the name Hemipeplus . Arrow (1930) described Holopeplus based on the feature that its elytra cover the entire abdomen unlike in Hemipeplus , hence holo, meaning ‘full’, and peplus meaning ‘garment’.
