That the Crassiclitellata of Jamieson (1988), named for families in which the clitellum is multilayered, is a monophylum is confirmed in the molecular analyses. The MP majority rule consensus tree for 549 bp of 28S only (Fig. 2) gives 100% bootstrap support for the Crassiclitellata versus outgroup taxa. Maximum likelihood analysis differs little from a MP bootstrap tree. Eudrilus again associates with the glossoscolecid Gen. sp. but not with Microchaetus .
