Lectotype (Mackenzie in Rhodora 30: 235. 1928): Clayton s.n. (BM-000051704).

Current name: Prunus virginiana L. View in CoL ( Rosaceae ).

Note: Fernald (in Rhodora 18: 141. 1916) discussed this name in some detail, but did not make a formal choice of type. Mackenzie appears to have been the first to do this in 1928.
