Notes: This list includes the synonymies and new descriptions made by Pérez-Asso (1996, 1998a, 2001). Pérez-Asso (1996) criticized previous work on Amphelictogon in three aspects: description of species based on one or two specimens, female specimens and immature specimens designated as holotypes, and the absence of gonopod illustrations.

Notes: 1) The genus was described by Loomis (1936), based on the type species A. coloratus View in CoL and three additional species, all recorded from Haiti: A. enneryensis View in CoL , A. furcipes View in CoL and A. robustus View in CoL . All have gonopods with bi-branched acropodites. 2) Later, Loomis described four new genera (1941a): Lasiomazus View in CoL , Craterodesmus View in CoL , Biaporus View in CoL and Synecheporus View in CoL , which also have gonopods with bi-branched acropodites, like Achromoporus View in CoL , but this fundamental feature was not considered when describing these new genera. Pérez-Asso (2009a) reviewed the genus and concluded that Lasiomazus View in CoL , Craterodesmus View in CoL , Biaporus View in CoL , and Synecheporus View in CoL should be considered as junior synonyms of Achromoporus View in CoL . These synonymies of Pérez-Asso were later included by Suriel (2010, 2011, 2013).
Amphelictogon Chamberlin, 1918 View in CoL : Amphelictogon manni Chamberlin, 1918 View in CoL .
Beatadesmus Loomis, 1934 View in CoL : Beatadesmus bahorucoensis Pérez-Asso, 2010 View in CoL ; B. engonatus (Loomis, 1936) ; B. insignis ( Chamberlin, 1918) View in CoL ; B. ivonneae Pérez-Asso, 2008 View in CoL ; B. longipes (Loomis, 1936) View in CoL ; B. pedernales Pérez-Asso, 2008 View in CoL ; B. pullus (Loomis, 1936) View in CoL ; B. rubens (Loomis, 1936) View in CoL ; B. sallei (De Saussure, 1860) View in CoL ; B. scitulus (Loomis, 1936) ; B. utowani Loomis, 1934 View in CoL ; B. yuma ( Pérez-Asso, 2003) View in CoL .
Notes: 1) The genus Beatadesmus View in CoL , was described by Loomis (1934) based on B. utowani View in CoL , with the type locality in Beata, an island in the southernmost point of the Dominican Republic (Caribbean Sea), although Loomis erroneously records it as Haiti. Unfortunately, the description was based on fragments of heads from different specimens and a single immature female, and the gonopodal morphology remained unknown. 2) The male of B. utowani View in CoL was re-described by Pérez-Asso (2008); however the examination of the gonopods of B. utowani View in CoL later justified the synonymy of Pogonodesmus View in CoL and Aplopododesmu s with Quisquicia View in CoL , but also the inclusion of the latter in Beatadesmus View in CoL , based on the presence of a common gonopodal structure ( Pérez-Asso 2010a). This synonymy had been previously suggested by Loomis (1936), Attems (1938) and Hoffman (1999). Attems (1938) had already included Pogonodesmus View in CoL and Aplopododesmus View in CoL as synonyms of Quisquicia View in CoL .

Notes: Eoromus aberrans Loomis, 1936 from Haiti was described from a single male housed in the USNM, and stands out as a highly unusual species. Originally assigned to its own family, Eoromidae , it was subsequently placed within Pyrgodesmidae by Hoffman 1979a. Later, despite being considered by Hoffman (1999) as a Polydesmida of uncertain family position or status, he suggested a probable affiliation with the Andean chelodesmid tribe Batodesmini , based on the morphology of the collum and epiproct, despite its reduced gonopods and geographic isolation. However, as Hoffman (1999) proposed, only a careful re-examination of the single known male of E. aberrans , or other topotypic material, could confirm the family position of this unusual species. We include this case in our results because as stated by Hoffman (1999) this species could be possibly related to Chelodesmidae . However, more work is needed to confirm its placement in the family.
