Castianeirinae Reiskind, 1969: 179 ; Deeleman-Reinhold, 2001: 297. Type genus Castianeira Keyserling, 1879 View in CoL .

Diagnosis. Eyes in two gently curved rows: front always recurved; back usually procurved ( Fig. 16b–f View FIGURE 16 ), sometimes recurved ( Fig. 16a View FIGURE 16 ). Male palpal bulb (e.g., Fig. 15b View FIGURE 15 ) simple, pyriform, tapering to coniform embolus; conductor and median apophysis absent. Feathery hairs ( Figs 6e View FIGURE 6 , 65b View FIGURE 65 ) common on legs, carapace and abdomen. Abdominal scutes ( Fig. 40a, c, d View FIGURE 40 ) usually present in males, often in females. Tracheal scute ( Fig. 40d View FIGURE 40 ) usually present. Typically mimics, usually of ants, few of wasps and some apparently of spiders.
