Diagnosis. Males differ from those of K. cushingae sp. nov. by the absence of abdominal scutes and the more distinct spirals on the embolus tip ( Fig. 49b View FIGURE 49 ). Female unknown.
Etymology. A noun in apposition from the type locality.
Description holotype male QM S31532 View Materials
Carapace 4.24 long, 2.56 wide. Abdomen 4.64 long, 2.00 wide. Total length 8.9.
Colour: carapace fawn with mottled brown large ovoid area around fovea, clypeus brown. Legs: femur I brown in basal half, fading to dirty fawn, tibiae and metatarsi I, II fawn; II brown, paler apically; III brown, IV pallid in basal third, brown distally; all trochanters and patellae, and tibiae III and IV brown, patella II brown laterally. Chelicerae orange brown; sternum, labium and basal half of coxae and maxillae light yellow, distal coxae and maxillae light brown; abdomen brown dorsally with pile of mustard coloured hair for nine tenths, faded dorsomedially in anterior half, posteriorly a large pallid area with pile of white hair with concave anterior margin; ventrally with brown sinuous area medially and flanked by pallid mottled bands. Carapace: with short raised caput, deep defined striae; fovea short, longitudinal pit; clypeus vertical. Uniform pile of light brown hair, no feathery hairs evident. Slight depression medially at base of caput. No strong black bristles. Posterior margin transverse, narrow but wider than eyes. Eyes: eight in small, tight group above vertical high clypeus; All of similar size; front row recurved, back row slightly procurved; back row slightly wider than front. Chelicerae: fang shield distinct but low, rounded; large, vertical chelicerae with long almost vertical furrow; two small teeth set well up from fang joint on promargin, four small teeth on retromargin and three granules between margins, behind maxillae; fang long, diagonal with constriction at half length; long chelicerae project well below maxillae. Sternum: broad, shield-shaped, without contra-coxal triangles; indented behind labium; almost glabrous. One long seta submarginally opposite each coxae and two more behind labium. Maxillae: short with convex outer margin, inner glabrous level extends over anterior face; serrula long. Labium longer than wide with basal prongs laterally. Legs: extremely long basally; fine feathery hairs dorsally and laterally on femora to tibiae; scopula absent; from above, femora basally bulbous, tapering quickly to one-third. Spines: all short, brown, at least two lengths apart. I: fe p2d3r3; pa 0; ti v2.2; me v1.1.1.1 (not paired). II: fe p3d2r3; pa 0; ti p1v2.2; me v1.1.1.1. III: fe p4d2r5; pa 0; ti p2r2v2.2.2; me p2r2v6. IV: fe p6d3r7; pa 0; ti p2r2v13; me p2v11 most not paired (=10 + 1). Palp: fe p1d1; pa p1(l) d1r1 thin; ti p2d1. Claws: small, dentate, set just above small tufts; tufts similar on I and IV. Abdomen: clad with feathery hairs; scutes not evident; distinct triangular colulus behind wide tracheal spiracle without sclerotised ridge. Spinnerets: ALS stout. Palp: tibia long with diagonal groove retroventrally and conical process on retrodistoventral corner; tip of cymbium with long slightly curved claw; cymbium very long, basal margin wide with diagonal dorsoventral ridge retrolaterally; apical cone very long, grooved to tip; tegulum constricts gradually then quickly to dark conical embolus with screw tip; no scopula on dorsal cymbium; sperm duct concave on prolateral edge, reflexing ventrally and back subventrally; tegulum deeply indented retrobasally.
Distribution and Habitat. Known from open forest and heath from Brisbane to Fraser Island, southeastern Queensland.
