Diagnosis. Males differ from those of L. conopalpis in the lower femoral thorn ( Fig. 61d View FIGURE 61 ) and from females in lacking the dark caput.

Etymology. Yagan was an Aboriginal warrior of the Noongar people in south-western Australia; the name is taken as noun in apposition.

Description holotype male WAM 98/1635. Like L. conopalpis , except:

Carapace 3.29 long, 2.21 wide. Abdomen 3.09 long, 1.79 wide. Total length 6.9.

Colour: carapace orange brown with black eye region; abdomen dorsally dark brown with trapezoidal white area terminally; legs orange brown. Femora III, IV with subtle distal bump ( Fig. 61a View FIGURE 61 inset). Palp: femoral prong a long equilateral triangle, directed distinctly retrolaterally ( Fig. 61b View FIGURE 61 ); paracymbial spine absent; embolus tip corkscrew.

Allotype female (like ♂ except as follows) WAM 94 About WAM /1500

Carapace 4.06 long, 2.94 wide. Abdomen 5.94 long, 3.56 wide. Total length, 11.3.

Colour: abdomen blue black with small, indistinct, oval scute dorsally and large white spot terminally; laterally a large white area anteriorly; venter with white area for anterior half of abdomen. Legs: fine feathery hairs on femora–tibiae. Spines: I: fe pv1p1d2; ti p2v2.2.2.2; me v2.2. II: fe p1d2; ti p2v2.2.2.2; me v2.2. III: fe p2d3r2; ti p2d2r2v2.2.2; me p3r3v2.2.3. IV: fe p1d3r1; ti p2d2r2v2.2.2; me p3r3v2.2.3. Palp: fe p1d2; pa p1w; ti p 2w. Epigyne: paragenital brackets present; externally a broad domed plate with small round fossae laterally.

Distribution and Habitat. Known only from localities in southwestern Western Australia in mallee and heath: Grasspatch, Bandalup Hill, and near Breeborinia Rock.
