MAPS 55–60. Records of Australian species of Ozcopa gen. nov. and Poecilipta Simon, 1897 .

Diagnosis. Males differ from those of P. gloverae sp. nov. in the iridescent green scales on the carapace and the unusual form of the embolus tip ( Fig. 101b View FIGURE 101 ); females differ in the sharper fold of the upper copulatory duct ( Fig. 101e View FIGURE 101 ).

Etymology. The species epithet is the indigenous name, k’gari, for Fraser Island and is used as a noun in apposition.

Description Holotype male QM S31288 View Materials

Carapace 2.36 long, 1.40 wide. Abdomen 2.48 long, 1.16 wide. Total length 5.9.

Colour: carapace and chelicerae dark brown; carapace and anterior abdominal scute with light cover of iridescent wide green scales. Legs: coxae, femur I dark brown with pallid distal third, other legs and segments orange brown. Sternum and ventral scutes dark reddish brown. Cymbial apex pallid; abdomen dark brown, dorsally with weak fringe of white hairs around medial constriction at widest point and a cluster just above anus. Carapace: with scales (above) and feathery hairs on caput and near eyes. Margins finely serrate. Eyes: from above, front row recurved, back procurved; low edge of AME below those of ALE. Sternum centrally slightly raised, finely and coarsely pustulose. Spines: I: fe p1d3; ti v 2.2w; me v2.2. II: fe d3; ti v1.1.1; me v2.2. III: fe p1d3; ti p1v2; me p2r2v2.2.3. IV: fe d3; ti p2r1v2; me p2r1v2.2.3. Palp fe d2; ti p2. Spines on I and II weaker than on palp. Legs: with feathery hairs on most segments. Scopula absent. Tibia IV thickens noticeably in distal half. Ventral tarsi with thick setae. Femur IV with slight distal constriction. Abdomen: dorsal and genital scutes separate; dorsal scute full length, narrow but widens at midpoint. Palp: cymbium with retrobasal blunt beak-like process; bulb apically constricts then widens in deep lateral folds, with transverse diagonal ridge; distally embolus constricts basally, widens then tapers gradually. Two long bristles on tibia opposite cymbial process. Tibia with distal retrolateral disc.

Allotype female QM S39272 View Materials . Like ♂ except:

Carapace 3.00, 1.56 wide. Abdomen 2.76 long, 1.44 wide. Total length 5.9. More feathery hairs on carapace. Sternum not fused to pedicel, anterior abdominal scute widely flared near pedicel and with two distinct rounded humps posteriorly and abdomen constricts strongly at end of scute; ventrally scute over genitalia and booklungs and semicircular plate anterior to spiracle. Claw present on palp. Spines: I: fe p1d1; ti v2.2.2 strong on raised bases; me v2.2. II: fe d2; ti v2.2.2 (weaker than on I); me v2.2. III: fe p2d3; ti p2r1v2.2; me p2r2v2.2.2. IV: fe d2 + distal band of 3 across ti p2r2v2.2.2; me p2r2v2.2.2. Palp: fe d2; pa p1d1 apical p2d1; ta p2 basal. Femur IV with distinct distal constriction. Epigyne: externally two round fossae. Copulatory duct wide sweeps forward to join head of spermatheca which for full length is sperm filled, passing back with two slight constrictions, and fertilisation ducts lie subdistally.
