Material. South Australia: holotype ♂, Gum Lagoon Conservation Park , 36°16'S, 139°59'E, northern boundary, vibration on stony ground, 25 Mar 1992, D. Hirst, SAMA NN8264 About SAMA . Diagnosis. The female differs from those of P. smaragdinea by the rounded, rather than flattened ovoid ridges of the epigyne ( Fig. 120b View FIGURE 120 ); males differ in having a single wide loop of the embolus ( Fig. 120a View FIGURE 120 ).
Etymology. The species epithet is in honour of the collector, David Hirst, whose scientific endeavours remain his legacy.
Description Holotype Male SAMA NN8264
Carapace 2.05 long, 1.22 wide. Abdomen 2.11 long, 1.05 wide. Totally, 4.2.
Colour: carapace iridescent green with uniform light cover of large white scaly hairs; abdominal scute for length, red brown iridescence with green tinge in anterior half; brown femora with lighter dorsal band, patella to metatarsi lighter brown, tarsi pallid; sternum, maxillae and other coxae all red brown. Carapace: with strongly serrate margin; fovea short; convex posterior slope and slight pre-foveal depression with convex caput profile; uniform cover of large white feathery hairs. Eyes: of front row smaller and row narrower than back; front: back: long in the ratio 25:32:19. Sternum: centrally flat. Legs: slight but distinct constriction on femur IV; large white feathery hairs on femora. Spines: I: fe p1d3; pa 0; ti v 2.2w; me v2.2. II: fe d3; pa 0; ti v2.2; me v2.2. III: fe p2d3r1; pa d1w; ti p2r2v1.2.2; me p2r1v2.2.3. IV: fe p1d3r1; pa d1w; ti p2d1r2v1.1.2; me p2r3v2.1.3. Palp: fe d1.1; pa p1w; ti p2r2w; ta 0. Abdomen: dorsal scute for full length with slight saddle at mid-length; ventral scute full, distally rounded, convex. Palp: paracymbial spine short, curved, beak-like on broad mound; cymbium a straight, tapering cone. Subtegulum semicircular, large; embolus broad with two spirals.

Carapace 2.19 long, 1.28 wide. Abdomen 2.38 long, 1.25 wide. Totally, 4.7.
Epigyne: two spiralled ridges around copulatory opening just over one diameter apart; internally, sinuous ducts lead to small head of spermathecae with small lateral accessory lobe.
Distribution. Known only from Gum Lagoon Conservation Park, South Australia.
