Replacement name for Turbo muricatus J. Sowerby, 1819 (Sowerby 1819: 70, pl. 240, fig. 4), non Linnaeus, 1758.
— Current status: both are synonyms of Metriomphalus muricatulus [ Turbo ] ( Cox & Arkell 1950: 60).
