Asplenium bangii Hieron., Hedwigia View in CoL 60: 245. 1918.
Range:— Peru, Bolivia (BE, CH, LP, SC, TA); southeastern Brazil and adjacent Paraguay and Argentina.
Ecology:— Common; terrestrial, rarely epiphytic or on rocks, in humid and semihumid forests; (250)450– 2150(2600) m.
Notes:— Differs from A. harpeodes in having subentire to crenulate pinna margins ( vs. deeply serrate), smaller pinnae (1.2–2.2(2.5) vs. 2.5–9 cm long), and shorter (1.5–3 vs. 4–10 mm long) rhizome scales with attenuate ( vs. with long, tortuous, unicostate) tips. The occasional occurrence of intermediate specimens suggests hybridization with A. discrepans and perhaps also with A. claussenii .
