Asplenium cirrhatum Rich. ex Willd., Sp. Pl. View in CoL 5(1): 321. 1810.
= Asplenium radicans var. cirrhatum (Rich. ex Willd.) Rosenst, Hedwigia View in CoL 46: 102. 1906.
Range:— Antilles; southern Mexico to Bolivia (BE, CO, LP, SC) and Brazil.
Ecology:— Common; epiphytic, terrestrial, and saxicolous, in humid forests; to 2300 m. Forms clonal populations by vegetative reproduction ( Koptur & Lee 1993).
Notes:— Asplenium macrurum Mickel & Stolze , from 1000–1700 m in Venezuela, Ecuador, and Peru, may occur in Bolivia. It differs from A. cirrhatum by broader (0.6–1 vs. 0.1–0.3 mm) rhizome scales that often have pale margins ( vs. concolorous), and by longer pinnae (6–10 vs. 3–6 cm) that are narrowly acute to short-attenuate ( vs. obtuse to subacute).
