Erythmelus ( Erythmelus) angustatus Ogloblin, 1934 View in CoL

( Figs 52–54 View FIGURES 52–54 )

Eurythmelus angustatus Ogloblin 1934: 256–258 , plates XXII, XXIV ( holotype female [MLPA], labeled: 1. “ Eurythmelus angustus [an earlier manuscript name] A. O. female Loreto, Misio-nes. 7.xii.1932 A. A. O. Typus. ”; 2. “3903/1”, examined. The holotype lacks flagellum of one of the antennae. Type locality: Loreto, Misiones, Argentina).

Erythmelus angustatus Ogloblin View in CoL : De Santis 1967: 108 (catalog).

Material examined. ARGENTINA. MISIONES: Parque Nacional Iguazú , 25.68°S 54.45°W, 200 m, 30.xi– 2.xii.2003, B. Brown, G. Kung [ 1 female, UCRC] GoogleMaps .

Redescription. FEMALE ( holotype and non-type specimen). Body length 738–800 µm. Body mostly dark brown except base of gaster yellow to light brown, hypopygium brown, midlobe of mesoscutum with a slightly lighter (brown) transverse submedian stripe, and borders of axilla light brown. Appendages light brown to brown.

Vertex transversely striate, with a few short setae.

Antenna ( Fig. 52 View FIGURES 52–54 ) with short setae. Scape 4.3–4.8 x as long as wide; pedicel much longer than F1; all funicular segments at least a little longer than wide; F1 the shortest funicular segment, F2, F3 and F5 almost subequal in length and each shorter than F4 or F6, F4 almost as long as F6; F1–F3 and F5 without longitudinal sensilla, F4 and F6 each with 2 longitudinal sensilla; clava 4.0 x as long as wide, with 5 longitudinal sensilla.

Mesosoma ( Fig. 53 View FIGURES 52–54 ). Mesoscutum wider than long, its midlobe finely longitudinally striate and with 1 pair of strong setae. Scutellum a little shorter than mesoscutum, posterior scutellum finely longitudinally striate. Dorsellum broadly angulate posteriorly.

Wings. Forewing ( Fig. 54 View FIGURES 52–54 ) 4.6–5.0 x as long as wide; blade slightly infumate, more so behind venation, with a few setae only along margins in the distal 2/5; longest marginal cilia 1.3–1.5 x greatest width of wing. Hind wing 16–17 x as long as wide, almost as long as forewing; blade notably infumate; longest marginal cilia about 4.1 x greatest wing width.

Metasoma ( Fig. 53 View FIGURES 52–54 ). Petiole a little wider than long. Gaster longer than mesosoma; ovipositor 7/10–9/10 length of gaster, exserted beyond apical gastral tergum by 1/8–1/5 of ovipositor length and not exserted beyond apex of hypopygium, 1.9–2.0 x length of metatibia.

Measurements of holotype (in µm). Body 738; mesosoma 258; gaster 318; ovipositor 318. Antenna: scape (including radicle) 100; pedicel 42; F1 15; F2 18; F3 22; F4 45; F5 24; F6 48; clava 130. Forewing 485:106; longest marginal cilia 136. Hind wing 485:30.

MALE. Unknown.

Diagnosis. Member of the flavovarius species group. Among the species with longitudinal sensilla on F4 and a relatively long funicle of the female antenna, E. (E.) angustatus is characterized by having a few setae only along margins on the apical 2/5 of the forewing blade and by a relatively long ovipositor (ovipositor 1.9– 2.0 x length of metatibia).

Distribution. Argentina.

Hosts. Unknown.
