Type material. Lectotype: Nr. 5175, Museo Civico di Storia Naturale di Milano, Neogene, Parlascio ( Italy). Rossi-Ronchetti (1955) stated that the specimen illustrated by Brocchi (1814: pl. 7, fig. 12) is lost and therefore selected a ‘neotype’ from a lot, which she listed as ‘paratypes’. Therefore, the ‘neotype’ specimen is a lectotype and the specimens Nr 5136 and 5137 are paralectotypes.

Discussion. The Paratethyan specimens are indistinguishable from the Mediterranean Pliocene ones. We are not aware of illustrations or descriptions of the protoconch of Pliocene specimens of Siphonochelus fistulosus . The protoconch of the Paratethyan specimens is high conical of two smooth whorls with weak mid-whorl angulation on the last whorl.
