This species was described from Nepal. The presence of the nominal subspecies in southern Vietnam (Paulian, 1959) is therefore unlikely. Its subspecies, A. perplexa diana Zhang & Lin, 2008 distributes in Yunnan and might be found in northern Vietnam.
