DNA sequences: From BELUM Mc4330, we sequenced partial CO1 (GenBank accession no. HQ379421 View Materials ) and 28S (D1–D2, D3–D5 and D6–D8, GenBank accession nos HQ379220, HQ379286 and HQ379354 , respectively). The GenBank 18S sequence ( KC902232 View Materials ) is from this specimen .

Remarks: Voultsiadou-Koukoura & Van Soest (1991) suggested that Stelligera stelligera (Schmidt, 1862) , type locality Adriatic Sea, might be the same species as Stelligera stuposa (Ellis & Solander, 1786) , type locality British Isles. Hooper (2002b) re-examined the type material and synonymized Stelligera stelligera with Stelligera stuposa , making Stelligera stuposa the type species of Stelligera .
