Type species. Tenuipalpus taxi Haller, 1877: 85 .
Diagnosis. As per genus, with setae f 2 absent. Subgenus Oligomerismus includes 11 species.
Remark: The species P. (O.) collinus is an exception, because it has two pairs of pseudanal setae in contrast to all other species of the genus having three pairs of setae. See the comments below.
