Distribution: French Guiana, eastern Ecuador, eastern Peru, Brazil (Amapá, Amazonas, Pará, Rondônia, Mato Grosso, and Mato Grosso do Sul), and eastern Bolivia.
Type-locality: “ French Guiana ”.
Diagnosis: Large specimens (16.4–20.3 mm). Frons narrow (FI: 4.0–5.0), parallel, or slightly convergent or divergent at the base (DI: 0.93–1.1). Palpus equal to or larger than half the length of the stylets. Wing brownish tinged at the base, costal cell orange, strongly infuscated calypters. Scutum reddish-brown covered in gray pruinosity with two dark dorsolateral integumental stripes. Postalar wall with an evident setulose white spot. Abdomen reddish-brown with dorsomedial (tergite 1 or 2 to 4) triangles and dorsolateral stripes (tergite 2 to 6) of light setulae when well-preserved.
Remarks: Resembling T. comosus (see T. comosus ). Integument and setulae of pleura and legs ranges from brown to black. The male is similar to the female, except for the reduced mouthparts, slender antenna lacking the ventral angle found in females, holoptic eyes with the facets well-demarcated, and the largest ones occupy the upper half of the eyes and are lighter than the smaller. The distribution of this species largely corresponds to the northwestern South America pattern of Amorim & Pires (1996), with elements east and west the opening of the Amazon River at the east, but also including elements in Guyana Shield and in the southwest Amazon basin. In other groups, this distribution pattern applies to more than one species that, as a clade, corresponds to the northwestern South America track.
