Indonesia records: South coast of Kangean Island ( Bali Sea), Sailus Kecil and Sailus Besar Islands, Tampaang, Sarasang Island, between Bahuluang and Tambolongan, Selayar Islands ( Flores Sea), Makassar strait, Siau Island, Laiwui, Obi Island ( Maluku Sea) and Daram Island (Seram Sea) ( Hansen 1910). Depth range: Closing vertical net, from 49 m to the sea surface and also plankton net from 8 to 36 m ( Hansen 1910).
Global distribution: This species is distributed in Micronesia ( Hansen 1912), Bay of Bengal ( Zimmer 1915), India (W.M. Tattersall 1922), Indian Ocean ( Pillai 1965), Australia (W.M. Tattersall 1936; Lowry & Stoddart 2003), Philippines (W.M. Tattersall 1951), Singapore (O.S. Tattersall 1960), Japan ( Ii 1964), North Pacific Ocean ( Ii 1964), South China Sea ( Wang & Liu 1987; Liu & Wang 2000) and Palau Islands ( Hanamura & De Grave 2004).
