Indonesia records: South West of Gebe Island (Halmahera Sea), Banda Arc ( Hansen 1910), Anyer coast ( Zimmer 1918), Java Sea ( Delsman 1939), Strait of Karimata and South China Sea ( Ii 1964), western part of Sumatra Island and southern part of Java Island (Indian Ocean) ( Pillai 1973; Taniguchi 1974) and Aceh water ( Pillai 1973). Depth range: Vertical closing net at 1500 and 1000 m to the surface, plankton net at the surface ( Hansen 1910) and non-closing vertical net at 86 m ( Taniguchi 1974) and 35–40 m Java Sea ( Delsman 1939).
Global distribution. This species is distributed in Sri Lanka ( Colosi 1919; 1920), Andaman Sea (W.M. Tattersall 1922; Pillai 1973; Fukuoka & Murano 2002; Panampunnayil 2002), Australia (W.M. Tattersall 1936; Lowry & Stoddart 2003), Micronesia, Polynesia (W.M. Tattersall 1943), Philippines (W.M. Tattersall 1951), Indian Ocean ( Pillai 1964; 1973; Taniguchi 1974; Biju & Panampunnayil 2011; Biju et al. 2014; Wittmann 2020a), South China Sea ( Ii 1964; Wang & Liu 1994; Liu & Wang 2000), Strait of Malacca (O.S. Tattersall 1965) and Northwest Pacific ( Hanamura & De Grave 2004).
