Etymology: longiparaphysium , referring to the longer paraphyses of type species.

Saprobic on dead fallen leaves of L. chinense . Sexual morh: Ascomata developing on both sides of fallen leaves, mostly on the upper side, scattered to clustered, associated with bleached, pale brown areas, and black zone lines. In surface view ( Fig. 2A, B View FIGURE 2 ), occasionally confluent, shiny, or slightly shiny, black-brown to black, without perimeter line, circular or subcircular, 200–400 µm diam., the most of central part of the ascomata strongly raising the substrate surface at maturity, edge of ascomata flat, opening by a longitudinal split, immature ascomata flattened. In median vertical section ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 C-I, Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 ), ascomata intraepidermal, 185–240 µm deep. Covering stroma up to 18–25 µm thick near the center of the ascoma, the thickness of each part basically equal, extending to the basal stroma, dark-brown to light black, no obvious cellular structure. Along the edge of the apothecial opening, there is a flattened, 20–38 µm long extension adjacent to the covering stroma that is composed of strongly melanized tissue with no obvious cellular structure. Excipulum weakly developed, arising from the inner layer of the basal stroma, consisting of hyaline textura porrecta. Basal stroma strongly concave to form a cup shape, 7–12 µm thick, fulvous to dark brown, comprised of 2–3 layers of 5–8(9) µm diam., thick-walled textura angularis-globulosa. Nearly colorless or light brown textura prismatica 13–20 µm thick, exists between the covering and basal stromata. Subhymenium 4–9 µm thick, consisting of 3–5 layers colorless textura porrecta. Paraphyses filiform, thin-walled, hyaline, 195–220 × 1–1.2 µm, extending 80– 105 µm beyond asci, unbranched and not swollen at the apex, covered by a very thin gelatinous sheath. Asci ripening sequentially, narrow cylindrical, apex round or subacute, 116–136 × 4–4.5(5) µm, almost not stalked or somewhat short-stalked, without circumapical thickening, J-apical ring, 8-spored. Ascospores filiform, arranged in a fascicle, 88–106 × 1–1.2 µm, slightly tapered towards both ends, hyaline, aseptate, covered by a thin gelatinous sheath. Asexual morph: Not observed. Zone lines usually frequent, black, and thin, surrounding the paler areas.
