Type materials
Three males and three females.
Holotype male (slide ZSI/ EBRC /N-17070)
Paratypes
Two paratype males (on slide ZSI/ EBRC /N-17071 and ZSI/ EBRC /N-17072) and three paratype females slide ZSI/ EBRC /N-17073, ZSI/ EBRC /N-17074 and ZSI/ EBRC /N-17075 ).
Type locality
Samples were collected from the sandy substrate in the outer channel of Chilika Lagoon , Odisha, 42.534’N, 85°34.501’E), on 21 November 2023 .
Habitat
The species inhabits sandy marine environments in the Chilika Lagoon, particularly in the outer where the lagoon connects with the Bay of Bengal. At the time of collection, the salinity in this region recorded as 24 PSU.
Etymology
The species epithet is derived from the name of the Indian state ‘Odisha’, where the specimens collected.
Description
Males. Body elongated, cylindrical, with smooth cuticule. Cephalic region narrower than remainder body. Labial and cephalic sensilla papilliform. Buccal cavity large, approximately three times longer wide. Buccal cavity with three teeth: two ventrosublateral and one dorsal. Right ventrosublateral largest; left ventrosublateral tooth approximately 1 μm longer or shorter than dorsal tooth. Amphidial pocket-shaped; diameter-to-length ratio 1.4–1.6. Amphidial fovea situated in anterior half of buccal Secretory-excretory pore located posterior to buccal cavity, at 2.3–2.7% of body length from anterior Pharynx 14% of total body length. Diagnosis
Cephalic region narrower than remainder of body. Sexual dimorphism in tail shape: anterior portion conical in males, not conical in females. Demanian system with three external pores in tail region. supplements absent. Gubernaculum short. Pharynx length 318–355 μm. Buccal cavity length-to-width 3.0–3.2.
