COMMON NAME(S): Pink Horn. SYNONYM(S): Hoplitis dasychiroides Rothschild, 1917a ; Simesia pylades Kiriakoff, 1955b .
IUCN STATUS: Not Evaluated (NE).
DISTRIBUTION: Angola, Botwana , Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia , South Africa, Yemen, Zambia, Zimbabwe.
LOCALITY IN ZAMBIA: ‘Lusaka’, in Lusaka Province. LARVAL HOSTPLANT(S): Two Combretaceae species namely, Terminalia sericea Burch. ex DC. and a yet to be identified species, Terminalia sp. ; an identified Chrysobalanaceae species, Parinari curatellifolia Planch. ex Benth. and a yet to be identified Chrysobalanaceae , Parinari sp. , are named as host plants of this taxon in South Africa
( Kroon 1999; Pinhey 1975). Without specifying in which African countries they occur, the African Moths
(2019) website, on the other hand, simply names the Chrysobalanaceae species, Parinari curatellifolia
Planch. ex Benth. and the Combretaceae species, Terminalia sericea Burch. ex DC. , as larval foodplants of the taxon.
