Type host: unknown

Current status: a synonym of Amblyomma helvolum ( Camicas et al. 1998) .

Comments: Moritz & Fischer (1981) stated that the holotype was deposited in the ZMB but was not found there. Even so, Moritz & Fischer (1981) believed that one ZMB specimen of Amblyomma decoratum without type locality and catalog number could be that used by Koch to describe this tick.
