Type depositories: ZMB?: holotype (female) ( Schulze 1933 b, Moritz & Fischer 1981); USNTC?: a “type” of unspecified developmental stage ( Keirans & Clifford 1984)

Type locality: Kankau, Taiwan ( Moritz & Fischer 1981) and “Kankan,” Taiwan, in Keirans & Clifford (1984) Type host: Cyclemis sp.

Current status: a probable synonym of Amblyomma geoemydae in Keirans & Clifford (1984).

Comments: Schulze (1933b) named as Amblyomma formosanum a female collected on Cyclemis sp. and figured in Robinson (1926) as Amblyomma cyprium . The holotype of Amblyomma formosanum is probably the specimen listed in Moritz & Fischer (1981), while Keirans & Clifford (1984) may have received another specimen from the same host but not the holotype of Amblyomma formosanum .
