Ceblepyris chilensis Meyen, 1834a: 74 .
Now: Lalage nigra nigra R. Forster, 1781 . See Stresemann (1930: 19), Dickinson & Dekker (2002: 15).
Holotype: ZMB 1948 ( Lichtenstein 1832, Nr. 31 sub “ Ceblepyris n. sp. ”), skin, juv., collected by Meyen [during 15 Sep–16 October 1831; see below] in “ Chile ” or “ Peru ” [= southern Luzon, Philippines; see below].
Type locality. M.H.C. Lichtenstein (1832; with question marks) and Meyen (1834a: 74) wrote that the holotype was collected in February in Chile, but it is of Lalage nigra Forster, 1781 , an Old World member of the family Campephagidae ( Stresemann 1930: 19, 1952: 520; our reexamination). Considering the range of this species ( Taylor 2005: 99) and Meyen’s itinerary, the holotype could have been collected only in southern Luzon (at Manila or at Laguna de Bay). We thus ascertain the type locality as southern Luzon ( Manila or Laguna Bay) .
