Cyperus imbricatus Retzius (1789:12) View in CoL
Lectotype (designated by Fischer 1932):— INDIA.: Tranquebar [currently Tharangambadi, Tamil Nadu], s.d., Koenig , s.n., ( LD, LD1281107 , digital image!); isolectotype: [ C, C10010221 digital image!].
Retzius proposed Cyperus imbricatus based on collections made by Koenig from Tranquebar. Fischer (1932) listed the name C. imbricatus in bold letters to indicate that the type specimen for the name C. imbricatus Retz. is housed at Lund Herbarium (LD1281107). This specimen exactly matches the C10010221 at Copenhagen Herbarium and constitutes the isolectotype. The annotations on the sheet confirm that it is Koenig’s collection. The sheet LD1281107 at Lund Herbarium is likely the one Retzius might have referred to while describing C. imbricatus , as all other specimens on which he made descriptions were housed at Lund.
