Range: —Greater Antilles; southern Mexico to Bolivia (BE, CO, LP, SC, TA) and Brazil.

Ecology: —Uncommon; terrestrial in humid forests, often in ravines and near streams; 500–1200(–2200) m.

Notes: —The only Bolivian species of Diplazium with abundant minute hairs abaxially on the blade tissue between the veins. Similar to D. hians , which has wider ( 0.3–0.5 mm vs. 0.1–0.2 mm wide), erose ( vs. ciliolate) indusia, and lacks the minute hairs abaxially on the costae.
