Specimens examined. The holotype was not found; therefore, other specimens listed as " E. topochi ?" in Imadaté & Kinjo (1985) and Imadaté & Ohnishi (1979, 1993) were studied.

Remarks. One male from Pankenai (NSMT–Ap 227, Hokkaido, 3-X-1974, H. Tamura leg., site No. 11 in Imadaté & Ohnishi (1979)), was not in good condition and characters could not be observed. Females from Okoppe ( Hokkaido, 6-VIII-1979, J. Ohnishi leg., Imadaté’s Proturan Collection No. 8054 1, site No. 54 in Imadaté & Ohnishi (1993)) and Soranuma–dake ( Hokkaido, 22-VII-1979, O. Nakamura leg., in my collection, site No. 97a in Imadaté & Ohnishi (1993)) were also in poor condition. However, the female caput processus in both specimens was visible; it is almost straight, being different from the S-shaped sclerotization on the processus sternalis in the original description of E. topochi .

In one female from Hagurosan ( Yamagata, 3-XI-1977, K. Shirahata leg., Imadaté’s Proturan Collection No. 4111 31, site No. 111 in Imadaté & Kinjo (1985)), the foretarsus possessed sensillum b'1, abdominal tergite VII had three pairs of anterior setae ( A2, A4, A5) and abdominal sternite VIII possessed two anterior and seven posterior setae. These characters were different from the original description of E. topochi . Therefore, these females are certainly different forms .
