Distribution: Algeria ( World Spider Catalog 2024).

Comment: Lucas (1846) described this species originally from the region of Bône (currently Annaba) and Philippeville (now Skikda), where the type locality is located. Simon (1911) reported the species from almost all of northern Algeria (Annaba, Skikda, Algiers, Ouled Anteurs, Ouarsenis, Théniet El Had, Saïda and Tlemcen) and as also cited by by Alicata (1974) from Oran and Théniet El Had. Bosmans & Beladjal 1988; 1989; 1991 and Beladjal & Bosmans 1997 have shown that the areas of Algerian Harpactea species are very limited. It is therefore highly unlikely that one species would occupy the entire northern region of Algeria. As no holotype was present in any Museum, a neotype was designated by Bosmans & Beladjal (1991). In Algeria it occurs in the North East in the wilayas of Annaba, Guelma and Skikda
