Basionym: Selaginella microclada Baker in Baker (1884: 246).
Type: INDIA. Sikkim: Chong-tong , alt. 4000 ft. 22 July 1862, Dr. Anderson 1404 ( K001067485 !) .
Distribution: Bhutan, China, Nepal, India, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam ( Shalimov & Zhang 2021).
Notes: This species is similar to Hypopterygiopsis monospora ( Spring 1850: 135) Li Bing Zhang & X.M. Zhou in Zhou & Zhang (2023: 669), but the former has denticulate leaves and slightly dimorphic sporophylls, whereas the latter has denticulate to ciliolate leaves and strongly dimorphic sporophylls ( Shalimov & Zhang 2021).
