3. Isachne elegans Dalzell (1861: 291) View in CoL .
Type:—on the margins of rivulets in the Deccan. Lectotype ( designated here):— INDIA. Bombay, s.d., N.A. Dalzell s.n. ( K, K000245419 !). Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 . Residual syntypes CAL ( CAL0000024850- 51 !), DD (accession no. 172601 !)
Note: —The original material of Ischne elegans can be traced at K (K000245419), CAL (CAL0000024850–51!) and DD (accession no. 172601), of which specimen from K (K000245419) and specimens from CAL and DD are part of Dalzell’s personal collection (presented in 1878).Another specimen from K (K001056211) has a label in Dalzell’s hand ‘Penn in inundatis’ ‘Oct. 48’, it also bears Hooker’s herbarium stamp along with ‘Herb. Stocks’ annotation. As this specimen has ‘Herb. Stocks’ annotation, it was likely a part of the set sent to K through Stocks in 1853 ( Bramhadande & Nandikar 2023), inaccessible to Dalzell while publishing the species hence omitted here as the type specimen. Of the remaining three specimens from Dalzell’s personal collection, a specimen from K (barcode K000245419) has a label in Dalzell’s hand which is selected here as lectotype. As remaining specimens lacks Dalzell’s label, retained as residual syntypes because there is no evidence that all three specimens are part of a single gathering.
