Type host: Passer montanus

Current status: a synonym of Ixodes arboricola , as discussed in Haarløv (1962).

Comments: according to the original description, the holotype was to be transferred to the ZMB, but no specimen of Ixodes passericola is listed in the catalog of ZMB types by Moritz & Fischer (1981) .
