Type host: unknown
Current status: Ixodes thoracicus , described in Koch (1844), is considered a nomen dubium in Guglielmone & Nava (2014).
Comments: Neumann (1899) treated ticks from birds collected in Chile as identical to Ixodes thoracicus , which Koch (1844) described from specimens found in Brazil. Neumann (1904) later found that the Chilean specimens corresponded to a new species that he named Ixodes auritulus .
