Lectotype (designated here):— MEXICO. 1788, Sessé & Mocino s.n. ( BM! [ BM000603702 ] ; isolectotypes F! [ V0044566F ], [ V0044567F ] ).
Candolle (1824) cited only the specimen Sessé & Mocino s.n. as original material of Alegria candida , without specifying the herbaria. We found three duplicates referred by De Candolle describing Alegria candida at BM and F. For this reason, in accordance with Arts. 9.3 and 9.4 of the ICN, we designate here the specimen in BM (BM000603702) as lectotype.
