Distribution: Endemic to New Guinea ( Mansfeld, 1925).
Notes: The original type for M. bakeriana is no longer available from the herbarium of the Botanische Garten Berlin ( B) because it was destroyed during the Second World War and a duplicate was not found at any other of the herbaria consulted. On the other hand, there is no other associated specimen that can be designated as a neotype .
