Genetic information. This species has been assigned the BIN URI: BOLD AEG3087; BIN-sharing with M. fontainei . The intraspecific divergence calculated from six samples is 0.00–0.16%. The genetically closest species are M. fontainei , M. trigonographa and M. palaeographa , diverging by 0.82–1.10%, 1.49–1.86% and 3.30–3.80%, respectively.

Taxonomic note. This study has identified the male and female sexes of M. dicranographa through DNA barcode analyses. It has been revealed that the true female of this species is conspecific with M. parastrigula Hacker, 2012 (which was previously known only from female specimens). Furthermore, the female previously illustrated as M. dicranographa actually belongs to M. trigonographa Hacker, 2012 . As a result, M. parastrigula syn. n. is hereby synonymized with M. dicranographa .

Distribution. This species was previously known from Burkina Faso (type locality) and Nigeria (also as M. parastrigula ) ( Hacker et al. 2012). The current study confirmed the presence of M. dicranographa in Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, and NW Zambia.
