Genetic information. This species has been assigned the BIN URI: BOLD ABZ2648. The intraspecific divergence calculated from 13 samples is in the range of 0.00–0.77%. The nominotypical subspecies of M. monofascia diverges from M. monofascia dissoluta by 1.87–2.84%. Another morphologically similar taxon is M. perfusca , diverging at 1.71–2.04%.

Distribution. Confirmed records of nominotypical M. monofascia are known from the RSA, Uganda, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Kenya, DRC, Burundi (as M. septima , M. octava , M. heteromorpha , M. pseudofuscata and M. brachyvalva ( Hacker et al. 2012, Hacker 2014)), Mozambique ( László & Vetina 2019) and Zambia (László 2020).
