Discussion Two large and rather well-preserved otoliths from the upper Lower Pleistocene Armuelles FM of Pacific Panama resemble the Early Miocene Microgobius robertsoni in the presence of a bulge on the anterior rim just below the ostial tip. Tey differ, however, in the short subcaudal iugum terminating far from the posterior tip of the cauda and the short sulcus (OL:OH = 1.75 vs 1.4– 1.5). Tis find indicates that this specific otolith morphology may be present in extant Microgobius species in the tropical East Pacific.
