Naddia alexeyi sp. nov.
( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 )
Type series. Holotype: 1 male, LAO08-13a / LAOS: Champasak prov., Bolaven plateau, Muang / Paxong , 3 km SW of Ban Hoyayteuy, 6.XII.07-6. V.08 / leg. S.I. Tarasov, disturbed forest, pitfall traps, h 900m / ZMUC collection ( NHMD) . Paratype: 1 female, same data as the holotype ( NHMD) ; 1 male, VIETNAM: / Lam Dong Province, Bao Loc / VI-2021 / leg. Local collector ( NMW) .
Diagnosis. Head and pronotum black, elytra dark rufous. Pronotum with sharp anterior angles and a pair of yellow oval setal patches. Pronotal hypomeron setose. Yellow rectangular setal patch present in the middle of tergite 3. Basal two-thirds of tergite 7 entirely covered by a yellow setal patch. Male sternite 7 with an arc-shaped cluster of setae in the middle.
Description. FL: 13.44–14.28 mm; WL: 24.50–28.98 mm. Head and pronotum black, densely covered with black setae. Antennae black, each segment short and stout. Pronotum with sharp anterior angles and a pair of large oval yellow setal patches on disc. Pronotal hypomeron setose. Elytra dark rufous (paratype from Vietnam darker, almost black). Tergites 3–7 black. Middle of tergite 3 with a rectangular yellow horizontal setal patch. Tergite 4 with a pair of yellow setal patches on lateral areas extending to paratergites. Basal two-thirds of tergite 7 entirely covered with a yellow setal patch (damaged and mostly missing in holotype, Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 ). Tergites 5, 6, and 8 without yellow setae. Sternites 3–8 black. Male sternite 7 with an arc-shaped cluster of setae in middle and a deep sub-triangular emargination at midpoint of posterior margin. Male sternite 8 with a moderately deep sub-triangular emargination at midpoint of posterior margin. Femora and tibiae black, tarsomeres 1–4 flat and strongly bilobed. Median lobe of aedeagus parallel-sided in parameral view, with a slight expansion near apex and a truncated tip. Paramere flat and strongly reduced with 4 setae apically. Apical lobe of median lobe distinctly bent toward paramere in lateral view.
Comparison. This species can be distinguished from all other Naddia besides N. tangi sp. nov. by the sharp anterior angles of the pronotum. It can be distinguished from N. tangi sp. nov. by: head with black setae, disc of pronotum with oval yellow setal patches, and a broader median lobe of the aedeagus.
Distribution. Naddia alexeyi sp. nov. is known from the Bolaven Plateau in southern Laos and Bao Loc in southern Vietnam. As a winged species, it likely has a wider distribution.
Etymology. This species is named after Alexey Solodovnikov, who has made great contributions to the systematics and taxonomy of rove beetles.
