Distribution: BFO, DOC, GBI, GUI, NRE, RCI, SLN.
Distribution in Guinea-Bissau (Administrative Regions): 2) OIO.
Historic records:
Bissorã ( OIO) [ Serrano 2009a sub Coptodera ( Coptoderina) rugiceps (Murray, 1857) ].
Material examined: Bissorã ( OIO), 17. VI.1992, 1 male, LT, A. Serrano leg., ASC.
Remarks. The species has a scattered known distribution throughout western and central Africa (Jansen 1968; Lorenz 2021). The male adult specimen of Bissorã was misinterpreted and identified as Coptodera ( Coptoderina) rugiceps (Murray, 1857) and by Serrano (2009a). Taking this into account, C. rugiceps must be excluded from the known entomofauna of Guinea-Bissau. The male adult specimen matches very well with the description of Neocoptodera championi , including the aedeagus (Jansen 1968). This species is a new record for Guinea-Bissau.
