Remarks: the nominal subspecies is endemic of Porto Santo and the Desertas Islands, while N. cimensis maderae Schauberger is found on Madeira Island. It is a very common ground-dwelling pratincolous species in Ilhéu Chão and Deserta Grande beneath the stones, often found together with Z. desertae in the Doca and Calathus complanatus vandeli in the Planalto Sul of Deserta Grande.
