Type:— ECUADOR. Guayas: s. loc., May 1920, R. Rimbach 4 ( B destroyed). Neotype ( designated here):— ECUADOR. Los Ríos: Río Palenque Biological Station , August 1975, C.H. Dodson 5939 ( MO 6777484 !).
Notes: — Schlechter (1921a) described N. rimbachii without informing the herbarium where the deposit occurred, but it is known that he preferred the collection at the B herbarium. The holotype of N. rimbachii is believed to have been destroyed during World War II ( Butzin 1978, 1980). The sample deposited in MO, which was collected in the type locality, is designated here as a neotype.
