Type material. Two syntypes (females): „ Laebho , Tonkin “ [handwritten label] / „ Type “ [handwritten label] / „ Orphinus tonkineus n sp“ [handwritten label] / „ Type “ [red, printed label]. Type material deposited in MNHN .

One specimen is herewith designated as Lectotype, and second as paralectotype. Specimens herewith designated are provided with a red written label with the following: „ Lectotype [ Paralectotype, respectively], Orphinus (Orphinus) tonkineus Pic, J. Háva design. 2008".

Remarks. Original description lacks figures. Female antenna of this species is herewith illustrated for the first time ( Fig. 4).

Distribution. This species is so far known only from Vietnam.
