Holotype, ♀, Sao Miguel, Azores / Litargus pilosus Woll. , det. H. Franz, ( NHMW).

Paratype, ♀, same data as holotype, ( JHAC) .

Description

Body. – Body measurements TL 2.2 mm, EW 1.1 mm; oblong-oval; weakly convex dorsally, weakly glossy; brown and yellowish-orange, covered with short, yellow and brown recumbent setation; elytra brown with yellowish-orange patterns covered by yellow setation.

Head. – Orange and brown, with dense and coarse punctures; covered by short, yellow, recumbent setation; labrum brown; eyes prominent laterally in dorsal view, coarsely faceted and not slightly emarginate near antennal insertions; antennae brown, with light yellow setation, 11 antennomered, antennal club with 3 segments; palpi brown, apical maxillary palpomere large, cylindrical.

Pronotum. – Yellowish-orange with short, yellow, recumbent setation, convex dorsally,rugose,with large and dense punctures;widestatmiddle;lateral sides brown, roundly arcuate; basal margin sinuate, with short and circular grooves on subbasal parts.

Scutellum . – Broad, yellowish-orange, with short recumbent yellow setation.

Elytra. – Dark brown with yellowish-orange patterns, covered by brown recumbent setation, patterns covered by yellow setation, oval, broadest medially ( Figs. 1-2). Epipleuron brown, covered with brown recumbent setation.

Ventral surface. – Prosternal process parallel-sided, slightly emarginate at apex. Mesepimera not reaching mesocoxal cavities. Meta-

Abdominal visible ventrites brown, finely punctate, covered with short, yellow recumbent setation ( Fig. 4). Pygidium brown, covered with short, yellow recumbent setation, with short striation ( Fig. 4).

Legs. – Entirely yellow with light brown spines, covered with yellow recumbent setation. Tibiae with short brown spines apically. Tarsal formula 4-4-4.

Male. – Unknown.

Variability. – Paratype specimen on pronotum with small light brown spot medially. Body size the same as holotype.

Etymology. – Named according to ornamental elytral patterns.

Differential diagnosis. – The new species differs from other all known species by the colour of the elytral patterns and the structure of the antennae.
