Type locality: Pretoria , South Africa

Type host: Erinaceus frontalis

Current status: a synonym of Rhipicentor nuttalli ( Camicas et al. 1998, Keirans & Hillyard 2001).

Comments: Keirans & Hillyard (2011) considered 1911 to be the year in which Rhipicentor vicinus was described.
