Distribution: India (Jammu & Kashmir), Pakistan.

Note: Rhyacophila kadphises Schmid, 1959 was previously reported from Pakistan ( Schmid 1959). Earlier it was reported as distributed in the Karakoram range but now it has been reported from higher reaches of the Indian Himalaya. During our collection expeditions to the Indian Himalaya from 2019-2022, we collected 152 adult specimens of the Rhyacophilidae family (Map.1). This collection includes 13 species belonging to 2 genera, i.e., Rhyacophila and Himalopsyche . With the addition of these two species, the family is now represented by 168 valid species in India. According to Parey et al. 2024, 1435 extant species under 27 families and 100 genera have been recorded in India. Moreover, it is estimated that 3401 extant species of Trichoptera may occur in India ( Parey et al., 2024).
