External diagnosis ( Du Bois-Reymond Marcus 1953): Largest specimens about 55 mm long and 3.3 mm wide, only slightly less high than wide. Dorsal color varies from uniformly reddish brown to dark gray. Ventral color lighter, with white creeping sole. Anterior end dark, almost black, pointed, ventrally flat or concave and clearly separated from the much wider cylindrical body. Pair of eyes about 1–1.5 mm from the anterior tip, with the body widening at about 2.5–3.5 mm from the anterior tip ( Figure 35c–d View FIGURE 35 ). Pharynx at about the middle of the body, sometimes slightly before and sometimes slightly after. Gonopore between the 38 and 42 mm from the anterior end.
