This species hybridizes freely with R. crispus and R. obtusifolius . R. patientia x crispus is rather like R. patientia with undulate leaves and unequally sized, nearly entire valves, broadly rounded at the apex. R. patientia x obtusifolius has valves distinctly toothed at the base, with a rather long apex.
