Tropihypnus gardneri ( Fleutiaux, 1928b) : Fleutiaux, 1932: 254 (synonymised Crypnoidus with Tropihypnus ); Stibick, 1968: 183 ( India: Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand); Cate, 2007: 167 (catalogue; “HP” as India: Himachal Pradesh; “UP” as India: Uttaranchal, Uttar Pradesh); Schimmel & Tarnawski, 2008: 648 (catalogue; “ India: Himachal Pradesh, Kotgarh”); Gupta et al., 2018: 501 (catalogue; “2A” as India: Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir; “2B” as India: Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand).
Type Locality. India: Chakrata, Dehradun District , Uttarakhand [North British India: Chakrata] .
Type Depository. Type, SU (??).
Distribution in India. Himachal Pradesh (Shimla District), Uttarakhand (Dehradun District).
General Distribution. Afghanistan, India, Nepal, Pakistan ( Schimmel & Tarnawski 2008).
Remark. The type material is likely housed in MNHN, but verification was not possible. Schimmel & Tarnawski (2008 b: 648) erroneously listed “ India: Utta [sic] Pradesh” in the distribution of this species without reference to any new material. As the presence of this species in Jammu & Kashmir and Uttar Pradesh requires confirmation, these localities are not included here.
